Just have to share!!!

Received a message from Zimbabwe today from Bev Rebelo telling us that one of her quilts is on it's way to Canada. I will post a picture of this quilt on the blog. She is comng in June to teach three days of classes. One of the  many highlights of our trip to Kenya in 2008 was meeting this lovely lady, so anyone luck enough to get into her class is in for a treat as she is very talented. The quilt is called Mr. Leopard and Mr. Buffalo.

We received a message from The tentmakers on facebook with a picture please visit facebook to see this amazing quilt. The Tentmakers of Charuh El-Khiamial and tentmakersofcairo.com We are lucky to have 10 of their quilts coming in June.  Remember friends don't let friends miss this exhibit.

Birthday Trunk Show Yesterday

I had a wonderful birthday yesterday sharing the quilts at a local retirement home. The people really enjoy the quilts and the interaction was great. The quilts really speak to the people. A planned trip to the exhibit for sure. I was able to visit a friend of my Father's which was nice for both of us, as he had fond memories of his friendship with my Dad and given that he died in 1956 speaks alot about him. I have a few trunk shows planned in March travelling quite a bit.

Caledonia Trunk Show Number 17

I don't think that I will ever tire of the effect the quilts have on people. The ladies last evening were just as wonderful as all the other guilds I have had the honour of speaking at. I am struck by the interaction between the quilts and the guild as people really connect with the meaning behind these wonderful works of art. We expect to see many of the guild at the exhibit in June. I have thought that my new tag line will be. Friends don't let Friends miss this exhibit!!

Kemptville Number 16

Well it was a excellent evening at the Kemptville Quilt Guild. It is neat to start the trunk show and watch as gets going as I  have at least 6 ladies going around showing the quilts to everyone in the room which always gets such great comments about the beauty of the quilts. One lady told me it was the best trunk show she had ever seen  I know it isn't me but the wonderful quilts that I get to share with the guilds. What a difficult trip home as I needed to take a picture of my gift so couldn't eat it on the way. It just stared at me the whole way home. A night off until the next trunk sow on Wednesday.

9 boxes of Blocks from Namibia

I don't know when blogging is too much but everytime something exciting happens for the exhibit I figure that everyone wants to know. Well we received 9 boxes that are Hand Carved by Kavango Carvers of Namibia I am going to post a picture of the blocks on this post. I really hope to have more for the exhibit,as we will be selling them starting today as a fair percentage goes right back to the craver.  Please visit their web site www.oshiwa.com. The classes using a few of the blocks will be on the classes section next week. This class will be just one of the amazing classes we will offer that bring the culture here to Canada.A wonderful chance for people to take a once in lifetime class. This exhibit is bringing the culture and spirit here in such a big way. Everyone that comes here will be in for such a treat.

The other picture we took is the view from our dining room window. We thought we would share this because of the amount of people viewing this from such warm parts of the world. I can assure you that it will be warm in June:)

One always worries when it is not a planned meeting as to just how many people will come. Well I was thrilled to have a full house!! We shared a wondeful evening , with Beve and Irene holding the quilts then taking them around so the people at the back could get a first hand view.A fair number of non quilters came out, leaving with a new prespective on the Art of quilting as one man said "Who New".  Great interaction with comments and questions. We will be looking to seeing everyone at the exhibit along with there friends, After all friends don't let friends miss a amazing exhibit of quilts!!

Big Night at the Library!!

I am really very nervous about this evening. It is so much easier to do a talk out of town because people don't know you. They did a story about the talk in the local paper this morning which was very nice and I was on tv last Friday morning so I hope to see more then just family and friends. This is important to get the people interested in this exhibit and to understand just what a amazing exhibt is coming here in June and a few Junes in the future.  I have posted the picture of the story from the newspaper but think you will only see the pictures. I will let you all know how this evening goes I know the quilts will do just fine.
